Waldorf=Astoria Hotel

I’m really rather fond of grand old hotels. Occasionally I’m lucky enough to stay in one; one of the perks of being a Professor. So this evening I find myself in the Waldorf=Astoria, perhaps the most famous of New York’s grand old hotels. Mostly it’s rather wonderful art deco, but with a few remnants of the old 1890s Waldorf=Astoria mixed in such as the clock in the lobby. I hope you like this as much as I do!

The Grand Ballroom

The Park Avenue Lobby, featuring the 148,000 piece Wheel of Life mosaic by Louis Rigal

Even the elevators are rather wonderful

Oh yes, and my room. Nice enough, but definitely at the less expensive end of the range in this hotel.
